A year and a half ago I started my journey to be a better powerlifter. It was pretty ugly. I hated deadlifts. 300lbs although sounds like a lot is not really in terms of powerlifting. I could pick up 300 but it was ugly.
Today I had a little breakthrough. Today’s workout was a warmup then an AMRAP. Basically I take a weight for as many reps as I can to failure. After some warmup weights and 2 sets of 4 reps with 332 lbs. Then the test. I took 332lbs for 14 continuous reps.
There are formulas that will translate that to a 1 rep max for me it works out to just under 500lbs. My goal has always been to go as heavy as possible without injury and until now it’s worked. My end of year goal has been 400lbs, I know I could lift that no problem so the new goal is 440lbs.
I hope you set goals for yourself no matter what you do. Reaching them is a lot of fun. Thanks to my coach and partner at the gym Justin, I couldn’t have done it without you.
